“Kitchen Scales”

Description

I see this object – kitchen scales – as very English. I come from the continent where the metric system is the only measuring system. All those pounds and ounces, acres feet and yards are alien and confusing. Even using this kind of scales with weights is the stuff from the books about olden days and overseas places. Yet now that I live in our old little English town of Rye, this became the norm!

I like exploring something new, be it skill, concept or an art technique. This print is a result of my learning the technique called reduction linocut and this is my only attempt at it. So many new things to explore, so little time!
