Waiting
£1,950.00
Painting glass vases is an interesting challenge. Aside from the technicalities of the process, each work always has an emotional element, which is often revealed after it is completed. I treat these pieces akin to automatic writing. Many still-life artworks, which, on the surface, are simple objects put together to paint, convey something about my state of mind, something that wasn’t obvious to me in the hustle and bustle of life and work.
In this particular piece, I gleaned a state of inner waiting. In the thick of Winter, the vases are poised for Spring, when garden flowers come along. The bouquets would want housing, and the home would want to be dressed with the opulence of the fragrant blossoms. But for now, everything is waiting for Spring.
